If you are a fitness and health blogger or social media enthusiast, I need your help! Or rather, the 2013 Fitness and Health Social Media Conference (#FitSocial) needs your help and I’m trying to help them.
As you know, I created the LinkedIn group for Health and Fitness Bloggers, and through this, I found out about two conferences that were occurring at relatively the same time in June of next year. I was disappointed about these dates, because I wanted to attend at least one of them, but I’m already booked solid during those times.
However, Cindi Mulchany, the social media representative of #FitSocial posted in that group that they were considering changing the date—and guess what? They did!! The 2013 Fitness and Health Social Media Conference will now be held on September 26 through the 29th, 2013 in Boulder, Colorado.
I am so excited about this, because this now means I can go!! It sounds like a really cool conference, because they don’t just focus on using social media; according to their website, it is a “unique combination of blogging, social media, and hard science.” The “hard science” part is what differentiates it—we will get to hear “presentations on the current state of health and fitness scientific research from some of the world’s top experts.”
And, it’s in Boulder, Colorado, and they have an excursion to the mountains planned as part of the conference. Need I say more?
Anyway, Cindi Mulchany reached out to me and asked me to get your input. They are really wanting to hear from you, as a potential attender: what sort of content and speaker suggestions do you have for them? Please, whether you plan on attending or not, share your ideas on what you would like to see at this conference, so that they can make it the best they possibly can—and give us what we want.
And, I just want to say that if you are going, please contact me because I’d love to meet up with you!!

Wow, that’s awesome, Bethany!! And awesome that you get to help to promote it!
I’d LOVE to go to a health/fitness conference next yaer, but not sure which one yet! Between FitBloggin’ and Healthy Living Summit (date not yet announced), and now this one, it’s really going to be a challenge to find out what makes the most sense financially! But if I do go, FOR SURE you will be hearing from me!
$95 for active fitness & health bloggers for #FitSocial! We hope that helps in your decision making along with all the fabulous content and location at the world-class Anschutz Center – that place is amazing!!!
I’d love to hear from someone who knows how to really make social media work for your blog instead of making you work for your social media. Does that make sense? Stupid Facebook starts this whole charging for your posts to be seen by your fans and it just makes me want to scream.
I know–that Facebook thing was a bummer.
Christen – I hear you loud and clear on this. This is a great topic suggestion!!
Oh you lucky girl! I want to go! And it will be around my birthday too! I have always wanted to go to a healthy living conference. I would love to know more about holistic medicine. It would be really cool to also learn about alternative exercises, especially for those with disabilities (I work with the disabled and they tell me it’s always a challenge for them!).
Oh, I hope you can go!! You should try!
Thanks for stopping in and giving your input!
Great topic suggestions, Kasandra! Thank you, and I hope to see you at #FitSocial to wish you a happy birthday!!
Oh, how exciting! I’d love to hear more real life stories about bloggers making a difference in the lives of their readers. Weight loss success stories are always good. I’d love to hear some more about the “real science” part – it would help turn blog posts into more publishable articles.
I’m with you on the real science part, Courtney! Thanks for giving your input here!!
Great ideas! Our partners at The Anschutz Center provide amazing scientific information on all areas related to Fitness & Health – including weight loss. Many of our attendees leave with months worth of content provided directly from the center.
Gosh that is a good one. Blogging by it’s very nature is a sedimentary activity. It might be good to have someone speak to the group about how to manage and balance blogging and keeping fit. It isn’t easy when your need to be online overrides your need to be moving.
The other thing would be how to utilize/train us the tools like HootSuite to manage SM is a more affective way. Just my thoughts.
Susan – you touched a chord with me on this suggestion! I’m online ALL DAY! Thanks for your various input!!
Hi Bethany,
I have a health blog too, but I can’t possibly attend. What I want the answers to are the following questions:
1. Are there any advances in the cure for AIDS?
2. What about cancer? What are proven carcinogenic agents?
3. With regards to health blogging, what are the most searched keywords, and what are the most commonly searched health topics online.
Thanks.
Great feedback, Jena–thanks!!
Fantastic Bethany! Being very much into fitness I would love to attend, but as you know it’s on the other side of the world:-)
Enjoy!!
Totally other side of the world.
Thank you for a great post, Bethany!! Your readers gave some wonderful suggestions and ideas for engaging content for #FitSocial.
I posted our official call for content on our site today, and we’ll be sending out our survey within the next week or so based on suggestions. Thanks again, and stay safe in this storm!
