Oh my gosh! I can’t believe I didn’t have internet for a week and couldn’t blog or social-medialize with any of you too much! It was good and bad. Good because I rested. Bad, because I felt so disconnected and couldn’t keep in touch with you guys!! I totally missed you!! But I’m back and will be blogging regularly again. I hope you didn’t lose interest in the meantime!!
Pardon me while I update you on some stuff.
I started a LinkedIn group and for those of you who are health and fitness bloggers and enthusiasts-almost-bloggers, you will like this LinkedIn group. I started it because I wanted a group I could network with on the more targeted issues health and fitness bloggers face. It’s called Health and Fitness Bloggers and I encourage you to join, and to join in on the discussions there. For now, it’s small, but it has been growing steadily, and I am treating it as though I have hundreds of members, even though I don’t. I want there to be TRUE networking and exchange of ideas in this group. And I also want it to be a place where we share and comment on each other’s posts. You can request to join via this link.
On another note, I’ve been thinking a lot about how I can make this blog of more value, and I’m gearing toward writing more summaries, commentaries and so forth on journal articles–you know, those academic-type journals that no-one except professionals read that has a lot of dense language but that is also full of the most recent research and experimentation. Expect to see some articles from me devoted to this stuff. I’ve already got one I’m getting ready for you.
And then, for this particular post, I wanted to share with you my latest GOAL!!! I want to do the splits again!!! You might have read my yoga entry in this blog, and following up on this entry, I created a video, with a challenge for you. People, let me tell you: I am totally motivated and totally on top of things here and if you do this challenge with me, I guarantee you are going to be a lot further along in your flexibility than when you started IF you do this challenge with me. Even if you don’t want to do the splits, flexibility is so much more important to us expecially as we age. It can make the difference between breaking a bone or not. So PLEASE consider doing this challenge. I will be following up with stretch exercises you can do and with motivational tips. I really really, really hope you do this challenge with me. AND, I’m calling it the SPLITZ BLITZ challenge because I think we should all write about it on our respective blogs and storm the Internet world with our flexibilty endeavors!! Here’s the video!
If you want to do the splitz blitz challenge with me, even if you think you can’t do the splits but just want to do more stretches to get more flexible, please let me know in the comments! Lets go!!

Oh awesome!!! I just requested to join the linked in group
that’s such a great idea!
Awesome! Thanks for joining!!!
Love this idea!
Do people at the gym give you weird looks..?
Haha! Which idea–the LinkedIn group or the splits challenge?
And no–I don’t get weird looks, because I don’t go to a gym. I have a home gym like you and your awesomeness.
BTW, speaking of weird looks, my brother is totally buff and a maniac in the gym. I’m doing a photo shoot of him this weekend (he’s coming home for a visit while I do my marathon–he lives in Florida). You should check out the post and pictures I write about him–now HE–yeah, that man tells me all the time that he gets weird looks. The cool thing? You will appreciate this. He just became a personal trainer and his clients LOVE him so much he doesn’t have enough time to train them all. Ha!!
That video is taken from your home gym..?? Dang, girl!!!
And I mean the splits challenge!
I mean the LinkedIn one is a good idea, too
Haha! I WISH that was my home gym!! That is my gym at my workplace.
Check back in for more splits challenge stuff because I’m doing this!!
Welcome back. your LinkedIn group sounds awesome. I will request an invite to the group. The splits blitz is a great idea. I think I would break but I’m game. I am looking forward to your summaries. It will be fun to read.
))
Awesome Susan!! It’s not just a splitz blitz challenge–it’s just to get more flexible too. Don’t break yourself. Know your limits.
Sooooo awesome Bethany! You are an inspiration. Love the video and the challenge. I’m afraid splits are out of my league right now given all my muscle challenges related to the PTSD HOWEVER, I will remember this vid and give it a go someday.
Love,
Trish
Yeah, don’t do anything that could injure you. I didn’t know you are going through PTSD. Hopefully you are through the worst of it??
Sounds great…………
Nice to have you back! I sent a request for your LinkedIn group. When I was young (I will not mention how many years ago that was) I was able to do the splits the way you are doing them in the video. Can’t even come close to that today. However, I will try again since you challenged us.
Cheryl–awesome!! I hope you go for it, but don’t try to do it all at once, and don’t push yourself!!
Good to have you there.
Oh, and I approved your request.
Good luck with your LinkedIn group! I would love to watch your video, but am currently having an issue where YouTube videos don’t play sound in Internet Explorer.
I had that same issue for a while. But then it came back. Don’t know what the deal is with that.
When the internet is not working or my computer not working, I will get so frustrated. Internet is a great part of our day to day life. Now a days people can’t live without world wide web.
By the way, have you received the scarf I sent you? Please let me know.
Yeah, I hated not having my internet.
Yes, I got the scarf and love it!! I sent an image to you via Facebook.
Believe it or not, when I was practicing Tae Kwon Do as a teenager, I was a few inches away from doing the complete splits, but I never quite made it! I think that’ll probably be the closest I’ll ever get in my life
Aww . . . you don’t want to try again?
I’m impressed you ever even got that close. Most men don’t really care about that stuff, but I guess for martial arts its a necessity.
